Let's find out
what God says about honoring our
parents
Let me tell
you about my dad
MY FATHER WENT FROM NOT
FINISHING GRADE SCHOOL TO BECOMING FIRE CHIEF IN THE U.S. AIR
FORCE.
He
did not finish grade school and he joined under age to serve in
the military. My father went from no more than a elementary school
education and got his GED and went on to further his education to
become a Fire Chief in the Air Force as well as Fire Inspector in
the Civil Service. My father developed his communication skills and
turned his life around to someone with authority and respect to a
God fearing man and has devoted his entire life to loving his
family.
I am very proud of both of my parents,
To this day he's still one of the greatest
men of integrity and honor that I have ever met. Just like your dad
loves you. He taught me rock solid values and character. Most
of us would not be the man or woman that we are today if
not for the many sacrifices that our fathers and mothers had made to
give us a better life than what they had.
(You
have to read the full story in my book: "God has my
back so bring it on!) I have a chapter in my book I
feel that everyone needs to read, I believe it will bring a fresh
perspective from the heart of a child.
I believe that all children should hold
a story about their father that they carry in their hearts to remind
them of the acts of love and sacrifice that their fathers have done
for them. Just like their are many stories of God's love and
sacrifice that he's done for us. The same is true with our fathers
who God has blessed us with. And remember your parents are not your
parents by accident. But by God's divine plan.
Love your
teenagers
These three brief
stories have always kept me spiritually aligned in my love and
respect for my father in my journey in my faith walk with my
dad through out my life.
I bet if you ask your
parents, they will share some stories from the heart
about each other that you will carry with you that will
keep your heart and your mind in alignment with honoring both your
parents.
Satan has tried to take my life many
times through out my life time. Even the day I was born, I
was born prematurely at least a month early and I had lost a
whole pound the same day which was not good especially back in
1957.And I ended up literally staying in the hospital for 30 more
days in a incubator until I hatched or at least until I was allowed
to come home.
And it was no different in my
first story that I carry in my heart about my father's love for me.
My dad was taking me to Houston or Dallas, Texas to get surgery on
my eye to tighten my eye muscle. I had what you call a lazy eye. The
bottom line was that this surgery was called out-patient surgery
where I was suppose to go home the same day. After this simple
surgery was over I was suppose to wake up and go home in a hour or
so. Instead of waking up from this simple out-patient surgery in a
hour or two after the surgery. I ended up not waking up from surgery
for 3 days. Praise God that he protected me during this time. I have
been told that people have died because of this. I know
God heard my mom and my fathers prayers for me.
It was only years later that my mom
told me about this story where I did not wake up from this surgery
for 3 days. What made this so special to me was that I did not know
my father did not have any extra money to spend for a motel room for
those three days. My dad could have easily drove back home to the
comfort of our home. But he chose to sleep those 3 days in our
family car until I came back from la la land. My dad never once
threw this in my face to make me feel a little guilty of his
sacrifice. I don't even know if he ate during those 3 long days. I
just know he was there for me just like God was during one of the
most tragic times of my life and when I woke up and opened my eyes,
I saw my dad with such a big grin on his face. My dad never spoke a
lot of words, his actions that he was always there for me said it
all.
HONOUR YOUR PARENTS
May you always honor your mother
and father and carry in your heart a story or two that keeps your
attitude and respect for your parents on the proper level even when
you find it hard too. It's not about that they don't understand you
or if you feel your right and there wrong. It's about God's
commandment to honor your mother and father and he will promise a
long life to those who do. It is never too late to do this and you
will be thankful that you had the disipline and the wisdom to do so.
And I appreciate knowing everyone out there who respects their
parents, God will bless you for it!

or his mother." Deuteronomy 27:16
