Don't just say your proud of
them
"God said suffer
not the little children"
. A wonderful ritual that I have shared with my
daughter for over17 years is when we say our good nights, is to
tell her how proud I am of her. I discovered when I first
started telling her when she was in
kindergarten,
That after awhile it starts to sound too routine
and robotic, almost insincere. I found out if I just took a
moment to pause and reflect on something she knew that she
accomplished that day, that it would mean more to her and her self
confidence.
It made a world of difference to see her eyes
light up because I'm not sounding so routine and boring.
She knows that I'm not just saying that I'm proud of
her because it's part of a loving father's daily routine, but she
can really believe that I am really proud of something that she made
a effort in.
Life is tough enough for our kids in today's
world. May the last words that our children here from us a parent is
something that will build them up. Blessed words like, "I love you"
or "I'm really proud of you because __________.
"Children's children are a crown to the aged, and
parents are the pride of their children." Proverbs
17:6
