Long Haired Mike
"God answered
our Country's prayers to end the Vietnam War 2 months before I
graduated."
No, I was not a long
hair, dodge drafting, flag burning hippie as some
might have prejudged us "long hairs" back in the1970's. I
grew up as a Military brat, My entire family was involved
in the Army and Air Force Military Service. In fact I
did carry my draft card proudly in my wallet which was one of
the last ones to be issued. The draft lasted from 1948 to1973.
I
give God all the glory for answering our Nations heartfelt prayer's
and mine for bringing our soldiers safely back home, as well
as ending the Vietnam War less than two months before I graduated
from High School in June 1975.
Remember to
always support our blessed troops all over the world by praying for
their protection and for their safe journey home. What kind of world
would we be enjoying or living in today without their devoted
service and sacrifice.
I'm proud of all
you soldiers out there, you are all "Warriors of Faith to God! and
you are all WOWFaith Warriors to me.
Note on Vietnam War ending: On April 30, 1975 -
Wednesday At 8:35 a.m., God blessed the safety of the last ten
Americans who left the embassy. They were ten United States
Marines departing Saigon. President Minh had broadcasted a
message of unconditional surrender. The war was over for us..
Trust Your
Children to do the Right Thing
I included this photo (click here
for photo) to show the younger generation that it is ok to express
yourself in your own unique way. Just as long as you respect other
people and it does not hurt another person. My dad being in the
military all his life was trying to get me to have a
much shorter hair cut. When I was younger I used to sport
a crew-cut. Keeping my hair long, and wearing blue sox, and bright
colored shirts was my way of showing my independence as well as
expressing that I am my very own person.
May
all parents understand that its not about what our parents think
what we should be. It's about understanding that its perfectly
healthy for all young people to have the need to have their own
identity to express themselves and to not take it as a sign
of rebellion. Do not play Satan's favorite game of shame
and try to embarrass them, or judge or condemn
them. Deep down in their spiritual core there really good kids
who need your love and support.
Do
not care what others think about this, Just care what
Jesus thinks who your children really are to Him,
which is they are a child of God. Tell them just how proud you
really are of them for having the confidence of expressing their
uniqueness. Tell them you understand how difficult it is to for them
to stand up to the peer pressures of today and how much you love
them everyday for trying to make the right choices when it comes to
drugs, sex, violence and criminal
behavior.
God
will bless parents who have faith in Him during the teenage years
and trust their children in expressing their uniqueness. We all
become a better and loving family from this.God's Word tells us
that if we teach our Children the right way to live that they will
not stray from it.
Carrie here was
blessed with the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. She taught me
that it was cool to read from the Bible together even before we
went out for the evening. read: Love your Teenager
"Teach a child to
choose the right path, and when he is older he will remain upon it."
